Every week, our Year 5 students are getting their hands dirty and their taste buds tingling as they learn valuable skills for a sustainable future. We believe in the power of growing, harvesting, preparing, cooking, and sharing delicious food straight from our gardens. Diving into hands-on lessons, discovering how to be resourceful and responsible environmentalist, they learn the importance of teamwork and how to make the most of our wonderful school gardens. 

In the kitchen, students gain essential life skills, from safely using kitchen tools to setting a table and preparing meals. They even boost their maths skills through measuring ingredients and their literacy through reading and following recipes.

Out in the garden, our students learn all about composting, planting seeds, nurturing seedlings, and caring for our plants until harvest time. They discover the rhythms of the seasons and how to identify a variety of fruits and vegetables.

Under the skilful guide of our Garden and Kitchen Specialists, we are incredibly grateful also for the dedication of our amazing volunteers who help us build and maintain our gardens, and who share their time and expertise. Their support makes this programme truly special!
