Curriculum : Beginning Year Assessment
As today’s newsletter goes to print most beginning year assessments are complete. Two classes are
left to assess listening and administer reading and numeracy interviews. By the end of this week students
will have completed all identified assessments. Teachers and staff now have the arduous task of
ensuring all the data collected from the past 2 weeks is entered onto our computer assessment
programme. From the analysis of this data teachers then plan programmes targeted at students needs.
Plant the seed. Grow the child.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our GPS students for the effort, commitment and in some instances the enthusiasm they showed when participating in these assessment tasks. I would also like to thank the Support Teachers of Student Learning (SSTL) for the hours spent entering data and of course the teachers who are now engaged with planning the programmes that will best support your child/ren and sharing what the data tells them with their students so they can set sensible learning goals. An opportunity for all this information to be shared with you will be at our first formal community
